Each spring, the Sunshine Coast hinterland becomes a meeting place for art, nature and creativity as Sculpture on the Edge returns to the beautiful grounds of Flaxton Gardens.
Running from Saturday 28 November to Sunday 6 December 2026, the nine-day exhibition invites visitors to wander through a collection of contemporary indoor and outdoor sculptures, surrounded by lush gardens and sweeping hinterland views.
Now in its 17th year, Sculpture on the Edge has become a much-loved event on the Sunshine Coast cultural calendar, bringing together established and emerging artists in one of the region’s most picturesque settings.
And from Oceans Mooloolaba, it’s an easy scenic drive into the hinterland.
A 9-Day Celebration of Art and Creativity
Presented by Arts Connect Inc, Sculpture on the Edge showcases contemporary sculpture across both indoor and outdoor exhibition spaces at Flaxton Gardens.
Visitors can expect an inspiring mix of works from artists across Australia, from large-scale outdoor pieces set among the gardens to smaller sculptures displayed indoors. All exhibited works are available to purchase, making the event just as appealing for collectors as it is for those simply looking to enjoy a day surrounded by art.
With creativity, landscape and community coming together in one place, it’s an easy addition to a Sunshine Coast escape.
Art Meets the Hinterland
There’s something special about experiencing sculpture outdoors.
Against the rolling hills, gardens and expansive views of Flaxton, each piece takes on a different character depending on its surroundings, giving visitors plenty to discover as they make their way through the exhibition.
Take your time wandering the grounds, stop for a coffee or something to eat at Flaxton Gardens, and soak up a slower side of the Sunshine Coast away from the coastline.
While you’re there, you can also make a day of exploring the hinterland, with Montville and Mapleton nearby for boutique shopping, galleries, local produce and another scenic stop before heading back to Mooloolaba.
